ECHA Collecting Information on Potential Risks from PVC

EU Flag

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced on August 24, 2022, that it is collecting information on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and PVC additives. ECHA is undertaking this project based on the previous request of May 2022 from the European Commission (EC) to collect information on the potential risk to human health and the environment from PVC and PVC additives, the socio-economic impact of a possible restriction, and the need for European Union-wide actions beyond measures that are already in place. ECHA expects the results of this investigation to be completed by May 2023. Based on the results, the EC may ask ECHA to prepare a REACH restriction proposal.
