Marie Escorneboueu counsels clients on regulatory and compliance matters related to food and drug law, with an emphasis on food and drug packaging, cosmetics, chemical control, and environmental issues. She assists companies in obtaining regulatory clearances for food contact materials at the European Union (EU) and Member State level and advises clients with respect to mutual recognition. She also advises companies on sustainability initiatives; REACH matters; the Classification, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation; and Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).

Prior to joining Keller and Heckman, Marie worked for two international law firms in Brussels, specializing in chemical law, packaging, and waste law. She has studied environmental policy at the College of Europe (Bruges) and European economic law at the University Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne. She was also a Trainee in the Cabinet of Judge S. Gervasoni at the European Court of Justice and within the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition.

Representative Matters

  • Conducted legal research to provide opinion letters regarding food contact compliance under EU law
  • Drafted procedural documents related to packaging law on behalf of clients with the Court of Justice of the EU
  • Advised on substance and product evaluations before the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA)
  • Drafted data sharing agreements related to biocidal active substances
