

Hugh Mayo advises domestic and international clients on regulatory and compliance matters related to food and drug law, with an emphasis on food and drug packaging and cannabidiol (CBD) and related cannabinoids. He assists clients in obtaining regulatory clearances for food-contact materials from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other comparable international agencies.
Hugh counsels clients on good manufacturing practice (GMP) matters related to the manufacture of food packaging and drafts legal opinions for clients regarding the status of packaging components, including adhesives, printing inks, polymer components, and additives.
In his cannabidiol (CBD), cannabis, and hemp practice, Hugh assists clients with local, state, and federal regulations. He tracks legislation and creates guidance documents on regulatory developments concerning CBD and other cannabinoids and counsels clients on packaging regulations for these products, including labeling requirements.
Prior to joining Keller and Heckman, Hugh was a fellow in the Executive Office of the Mayor of Washington, DC Office of the General Counsel and served as a Legal Extern for the Marketing, Regulatory, and Food Safety Programs Division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
