Elpiniki (Niki) Sfakianou counsels clients on regulatory and compliance matters related to chemical control, environmental issues, and food contact legislation. She mainly focuses on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation, Classification, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation, Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), and biocidal legislation. She advises clients with respect to REACH and CLP regulatory compliance and represents clients before the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
Prior to joining Keller and Heckman, Niki was a Legal Trainee for the Registry of the Board of Appeal, European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), where she became well-versed in regulatory requirements applicable to REACH, Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR), CLP, and other regulatory framework matters. Her background also includes training with respect to data security requirements.
- Worked closely with and provided support to the Legal Advisors and the Scientific Advisors of the Registry of the Board of Appeal (RBoA) on regulatory framework matters that concerned the Agency, specifically regarding the REACH and the BPR applicability
- Assisted with legal drafting of decisions of the Board of Appeal (BoA) and internal documents of the Agency on dossier evaluation, compliance checks, substance evaluation, and data sharing matters under REACH
- Attended oral hearings before the BoA on regulatory matters related to REACH and BPR
- Conducted legal research, to draft and file on both national and EU law, including intellectual property rights, data protection, and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliances
