Keller and Heckman attorneys and scientists will be among the speakers at the 5th International Conference on Food Contact Compliance in Baveno, Italy, September 25-27. They will be presenting on the following topics:

Partner Jeff Keithline and associate Rachel Bond will present "Food Contact Requirements in Asia and Latin America" at Product Stewardship 2018 on September 27, in Washington, DC. The conference, to be held September 27-29, brings professionals from over a dozen different industry sectors to discuss global emerging issues, case studies, practical experiences, and new developments.

David Ettinger presented "All Wrapped Up: food-contact regulations in China" at the Food Contact Regulations Asia 2017 Conference, held on November 23, 2017 in Singapore. David's presentation will provide an overview of China's Food Safety Law, China's GB Packaging standards and updates, and Chinese Food-Contact Petition procedures. To learn more, click here.

Keller and Heckman Partner David Ettinger will be giving the keynote presentation at Chemical Watch’s 2nd Annual Food Contact Regulations Asia Conference. David’s presentation, “Overview of Global Food Contact Materials (FCM’s) Regulations: What’s Happening and Future Trends,” will kick off this one-day focused event, designed to get attendees completely up-to-date with the complex and changing landscape of food contact regulations throughout Asia.

A South Korean study published on June 25, 2021 in Food and Chemical Toxicology reported the results of overall and specific migration testing of various food contact plastic materials using food simulants. The data indicate that the minimal migration of evaluated substances from plastic food packaging and their corresponding dietary concentrations pose no significant human health or safety concerns.

The Thai Ministry of Industry notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of five draft food-contact regulations on June 9, 2021. The draft regulations, which establish standards for various plastic utensils and plastic bags for foods, are described below.

The Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) issued Green Product Certification Implementation Rules on June 4, 2021 (CNCA Announcement No. 7 of 2021). These rules include revisions to the first batch of 12 Green Product Certification Implementation Rules (CNCA Announcement No. 6 of 2020), including “Green Product Certification Implementation Rules for Wood Plastic Products.”

China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) requested comments on two Voluntary National Standards concerning biodegradable materials.

Keller and Heckman Partner Hazel O’Keeffe will be one of the presenters at Chem Academy’s Food Contact Materials Regulations Conference, to be held January 27-28, 2020, in Berlin, Germany. The title of her presentation is, “Japanese Legislation: Similarities and Differences to EU Legislation.”

Keller and Heckman Partner Jeffery Keithline and Associate Kathryn Skaggs will be among the speakers at this year’s Smithers Global Food Contact Conference. New this year, Global Food Contact 2020 will be presented as a four-part webinar series that will take place July 14, 16, 21, and 23.

Ms. Skaggs's presentation, titled, “Andean Community Nations and Chile – Food Contact Legislation Explained,” is scheduled for July 14. Mr. Keithline will discuss Indian Food Contact Regulations and Updates on July 16.
