Bailey Named Acting Director of FDA’s Division of Food Contact Notifications

Allan Bailey, Ph.D., has been named the Acting Director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Division of Food Contact Notifications, as of January 23, 2018. Francis Lin, Ph.D., retired as director of the office in December 2017.

FDA’s Division of Food Contact Notifications is part of the Office of Food Additive Safety (OFAS), which is part of FDA’s Center for Food Safety & Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). Dennis M. Keefe, Ph.D., is the director of OFAS and Susan T. Mayne, Ph.D. is the director of CFSAN.

Dr. Bailey joined FDA in March 1992 as a review chemist and has served as a supervisory chemist in the Division of Food Contact Notifications, since June 2001. He received a B.S. degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry from Johns Hopkins University.
