Michael Landa Named Director of CFSAN

Michael M. Landa has been appointed Director of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He had been serving as Acting Director of CFSAN since May 2010 when Stephen Sundlof stepped down as Director to take a teaching position.
Prior to being named Acting Director of CFSAN, Mr. Landa was Deputy Director for Regulatory Affairs at the Center from 2004 to 2010. He also served as FDA's Acting Chief Counsel from 2009 to 2010; FDA's Deputy Chief Counsel from 2000 to 2004; and FDA's Assistant and then Associate Chief Counsel for Enforcement, Medical Devices, and Veterinary Medicine for various periods between 1978 and 1993. Mr. Landa has a B.A. from Columbia College, a J.D. from the University of Virginia, and an LL.M. from New York University.
